readiness review technical support services
Since the Summer of 2021, TerraGraphics has provided Readiness Assessment Technical Support services to the Hanford Site Contractor responsible for the safe and efficient management of radioactive and hazardous waste stored in Hanford’s underground tanks, and for preparing to deliver the waste to the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant for vitrification. This includes startup and operation of the Tank-Side Cesium Removal (TSCR) system and restart of the 242-A Evaporator. TerraGraphics was contracted to provide the expertise to verify a state of readiness of the TSCR system and 242-A Evaporator facility as required by DOE Order 425.1D. Specifically, support included the following:
· Review the Plan of Action (POA)
· Select readiness review team members based on technical familiarity with the area being evaluated; previous performance-based review experience; knowledge of the facility, activity, or operation; and independence of the work activity under review.
· Develop an implementation plan (IP) based on the breadth and depth of the assessment contained in the contractor’s plan of action (POA).
· Develop criteria and review approach documents (CRADs), based on the contractor POA, to assess all applicable core requirements.
· Perform the readiness assessment, in accordance with the IP, by completing document reviews, interviews, and observations of field activities.
· Prepare, approve, and issue the final readiness assessment report.
These managed task contracts provide the customer with Subject Matter Expertise of readiness assessment field activities, final report development, and results outbrief which increased the confidence of the customer’s state of readiness. In addition, four TerraGraphics managers have completed the Department of Energy (DOE) Readiness Review Team Lead (SMP-205) training through the National Training Center to enhance our effectiveness.
