Mobile Laboratory

Mobile Laboratory

Title:

Description:

  • Assess and Monitor Organic Contaminants and Inorganic Atmospheric Compounds
  • Odor Investigations, Volatile Toxic Gas Detection, Source Characterization and Fingerprinting
  • State of the Art Latest Generation Instruments such as the Ionicon PTR-TOF 6000 X2
  • Self-contained, powered, climate controlled, and fully operational while driving
  • Part Per Billion (ppb) to Part Per Trillion (ppt) Detection Limits
  • Real Time Data Collection Reduces the Need for Single Point Samples

The TerraGraphics mobile laboratory (ML) was designed and built implementing an elevated level of procedural compliance, Quality Assurance (QA) rigor, and instrument automation. The ML is housed in a Chevrolet 4500 14’ Box Truck that has been fully insulated to allow for the ML to maintain comfortable operating temperatures for the operators and instrumentation. The system utilizes an onboard generator capable of 12-kilowatt output that allows for full operation while mobile but can be switched to a standard shore power connection. The TerraGraphics Mobile Lab team brings a variety of fully trained subject matter experts, data analysts, QA engineers, field technicians, and project managers to each project.

The TerraGraphics Mobile Lab Program is supported by a fully documented NQA-1 Quality Assurance program.

The TerraGraphics ML is designed specifically for trace gas analysis based on the Proton Transfer Reaction – Mass Spectrometer (PTR-MS) and supplemental analytical instruments. The lab contains the latest generation Ionicon Proton Transfer Reaction – Mass Spectrometer PTR-TOF 6000 X2, a Picarro G2103 Ammonia Analyzer, LI-COR 850a Carbon Dioxide Analyzer, AirMar Weather Station/GPS, and other scientific instrumentation. Specific instruments can be utilized depending on project needs. Additionally, the lab can collect traditional air sample media such as cartridges and cannisters to support real-time data collection. Data collection and calibration is automated with the use of customized data acquisition and control software that is integrated with the major instrumentation within the Laboratory. Reporting and interpretation can be tailored to each project. TerraGraphics can provides expert level data interpretation, visualization, and reporting.

The TerraGraphics ML has been deployed for fence line monitoring, point source emissions, source characterization/fingerprinting, odor investigations, and plume tracking. Our testing can be tailored by chemical type and monitor for custom chemical compound libraries to ensure collection of the highest quality, and most relevant data for each project. The ML can support industrial hygiene investigations using both 205’ and 35’ heated sample lines to allow access to areas where the truck cannot be driven. Systems are designed for real-time tracking of hazardous compounds. This technology can be used in various industrial application such as monitoring during waster disturbing activities, Food Processing and Storage, Port and Public Safety, detection of illegal drugs and explosives, Research and Development, and monitoring of Indoor Air Quality. These systems, designed for real-time detection of hazardous compounds, provided our clients with immediate alarm capabilities protecting the environment, workers and public.

NQA-1 is good for Hanford procurements but isn’t relevant when data is used for regulatory compliance. Do you have a qapp for compliance with Clean Air Act QA? For ISO 9001? For ANSI E-4? Or for the Hanford HASQARD? Do you use EPA -approved analytical methods? Are they documented in a Terragraphics procedure? Thanks

      Joel,
Thank you for replying to our website and our Mobile Laboratory project page. TerraGraphics is in the process of developing and implementing an ISO 17025 compliant quality system for the Mobile Laboratory. ISO 17025 will enable the Mobile Laboratory to demonstrate its competence and generate valid results.
The Mobile Laboratory is housed in a Chevrolet 4500 14’ Box Truck. This size of Box Truck allows us to tailor instrumentation configuration so depending on what the client’s instrumentation configuration preference, we use approved analytical methods and/or proceduralize and validate non-standard methods, The box has been fully insulated to allow for the Mobile Laboratory to maintain comfortable working temperatures for the operators and instrumentation.
